Lion’s Lair Winner IRIS R&D Group Joins the TechPlace LaunchPad Program

IRIS R&D Group is the latest company to join the TechPlace LaunchPad Program. Founded in 2018, IRIS R&D Group is an Artificial Intelligence company that provides cities with the technology to solve transportation, mobility, public safety, and infrastructure challenges. In September 2019, IRIS R&D Group won the grand prize, $35,000 cash, at the Lion's Lair Pitch competition in Hamilton. This well-known competition spans three months and gives ten companies the opportunity to pitch their business case to a panel of top business experts. Read more here.

myBrokerBee Officially Moves into TechPlace 

TechPlace welcomes financial technology company myBrokerBee to the LaunchPad program. Founded in 2017, myBrokerBee is a Peer-to-Peer software marketplace that allows mortgage brokers to easily find the best private lender for their clients/borrowers.The myBrokerBee team have been endorsed users at TechPlace for over a year, regularly accessing the hot desks and meeting rooms; a LaunchPad office is a natural progression for their company as they gear for growth.

TechPlace Welcomes Spero Careers Canada 

TechPlace is excited to welcome Spero Careers Canada to the LaunchPad Program. Founded in Burlington by Elizabeth Plouffe, Spero Careers Canada’s mission is to remove barriers to employment and skill building by connecting youth and adults on the autism spectrum to NANAWorks. NANAWorks will help to eliminate the current barriers for employment success and reduce the current unemployment rate within the autism community. Moving into TechPlace will provide them with space to validate their training programs and tools through hosting workshops and beta-testing events.

Whirled Wins Haltech Hi5 Pitch Competition

On November 26th, Burlington Economic Development and TechPlace sponsored the Haltech Hi5 Pitch Competition where five tech companies pitched their businesses to a panel of judges. One of the five participants is TechPlace LaunchPad company Kidictive whose focus is to bring back “old school” play, using technology to help kids put down their devices and get “addicted” to the real world around them. TechPlace Endorsed User, Zentap  was another participating company. They are creating an easy way to instantly connect with wellness providers. After the pitches of all five companies, Whirled was announced as the winner and recipient of the grand prize of $5,000. Orpheus Medica was announced as the Peoples Choice award. It was a great evening for the participants and guests who had a chance to watch the pitches, as well as network and interact with regional companies gearing for growth.

Fastest Growing Kids Coding Company in North America Now Open in Burlington


The fastest growing kids coding franchise in North America is now open in Burlington. On November 9th, Code Ninjas officially opened their doors to the Burlington community. Code Ninjas teaches children computer coding and problem-solving skills while building fun video games. Everything about Code Ninjas is built around fun which keeps kids coming back while also providing the results that parents are looking for as their children gain coding and problem-solving skills they’ll need for the jobs of the future. To find out more about the Burlington Code Ninjas location, click here. 
 

Kinjunxion Hosts Fundraiser for Certified Listeners Program


TechPlace LaunchPad graduate Kinjunxion is holding a fundraiser for their Certified Listeners program. Feeling down and need to connect to someone? Certified Listeners are here to listen, support, and guide you in the right direction. This program provides a private, personal and confidential chat, where people can connect to a professional who can provide them with support. Last month, the program helped over 6,500 people in distress who needed personal support. Through this fundraiser, they hope to reach 10,000 more. Donate here.
