TechPlace Welcomes Expertic PGS Technologies to the Soft-Landing Program

Burlington, ON, March 16, 2020 – TechPlace Welcomes Expertic PGS Technologies to the Soft-Landing Program
Expertic PGS Technologies (PGS) is the latest company to join the soft-landing program at TechPlace. It’s parent company, Expertic, is a Colombian technology company specializing in mobile, Web, and IoT software development. PGS is currently developing a Portable Grading System for Canadian egg farmers. This system will perform egg grading operations on-site and will be catered towards small and medium sized egg farmers, as well as smaller distributors of organic or “special” eggs such as free-range eggs. A smartphone application is also being developed to provide farmers with updates during the egg grading process.
PGS was introduced to Burlington through a tour of TechPlace in partnership with Latam Startups, a non-profit organization that helps Latin American startups scale in North America. ”We knew right away that TechPlace was the right choice for us because it is ideally situated within a technology corridor, close to Toronto, and also close to the largest concentration of egg farms in Ontario,” commented Daniel Duarte, CEO and Co-Founder of PGS.
Through the soft-landing program, PGS will have access to a LaunchPad office, mentorship, programming, events, and support from Haltech. Duarte spoke about tapping into Haltech’s resources to establish their new business in Canada. “So far through Haltech, we’ve received support with building our value proposition, business model, and business plan. We’ve also been introduced to contacts who will be early adopters of our technology through a pilot project that we plan on running in June.” He continued, “We look forward to continuing to tap into Haltech’s support during our time in the soft-landing program.”
“TechPlace and Burlington Economic Development are thrilled to have PGS join the soft-landing program,” says Mark Steffler, Manager, Innovation and Partnerships at TechPlace. ”PGS is the second Latin American company to soft-land at TechPlace as a result of our partnership with Latam Startups. PGS’ choice to establish their Canadian operations at TechPlace demonstrates our value to international growth-oriented companies. We look forward to supporting PGS with the development and launch of their Portable Grading System as well as their growth in Canada.”
Burlington Mayor Marianne Meed Ward also welcomed PGS to Burlington. “I am thrilled that PGS have chosen to soft-land in Burlington. The soft-landing program at TechPlace continues to provide innovative international companies with the support they need to grow and scale in Canada. I believe that Burlington’s technology ecosystem, ideal location, and diverse talent pool will help PGS to thrive in our community, and in Canada.”
