TechPlace COVID-19 Update
Update June 10, 2020: We are planning a staged re-opening of TechPlace. We plan on starting Stage 1 and re-opening TechPlace to current LaunchPad companies that define themselves as essential businesses on July 2, pending any City and provincial guidance. We will move into future stages based on City and Provincial guidance. Additional details to come.
Since opening in 2017, we’ve been a destination for new and growing technology companies, helping support innovative businesses. The impacts of COVID-19 have been detrimental to our community. To further contain the spread of COVID-19, the Ontario Government has ordered the mandatory closure of all non-essential workplaces. TechPlace is not considered an essential service. As such, TechPlace will be closed until further notice. This includes staff, tenants, endorsed users and the public.
TechPlace and Burlington Economic Development are still here to support your business. Alongside our Team Burlington partners (The Burlington Chamber of Commerce, Burlington Downtown Business Association, Aldershot Village BIA, and Tourism Burlington), we have organized a one-stop-shop resource site for businesses. This one-stop-shop resource site offers a concise summary of the latest government updates, toolkits, support programs, economic relief information and resources all in one place. Everything is drilled down from what government resources are available to businesses, to a summary of all City of Burlington, Provincial and Federal updates that have been given to date.
This Thursday, April 16th, Team Burlington is hosting the final virtual event in their 3-part Business Support Forum Series. This series provides a platform for businesses of all sizes an opportunity to ask questions and hear from subject matter experts, as well as key leaders and decision-makers from all levels of government. COVID-19 is placing significant strain on small businesses, and the event on April 16th will focus specifically on the unique challenges facing small businesses during this time. Please register for the online event here. The previous two virtual Business Support Forum Series were focused on Municipal and Regional Updates (watch recording of event) and Provincial and Federal Updates (watch recording of event).
We’ve heard from several companies eager to learn what they can do to support the fight against COVID-19. Thank you to all the companies who have shown interest. If you think your business is able to retool to help the fight against COVID-19, please view the options here under How Can Your Business Help Fight COVID-19?
